AT Expo 2009
The 6th Annual AT Expo, April 29th & 30th, 2009, at the Ramada Plaza Suites, was another huge success with 60 vendors and over 540 participants from across the region.
The Expo was expanded this year with the addition of a Pre-Conference Day which focused on Home Accommodations with Diane Sprague, director of the Lifetime Home Project, Minneapolis, MN.
Over 14 concurrent presentations were conducted the morning of the 30th. Sessions included an Equipment Reuse Panel which provided valuable reuse options and featured the following companies who participate in equipment reuse programs: Adaptive Equipment Services, HERO, IPAT, and NDAD. Mark Coppin, from the Anne Carlson Center, presented the Expo's first Hands-On Computer Lab focusing on "Supports and Strategies for Struggling Readers and Non-Readers".
For the last 4 years the morning Expo participants have joined the Metro Area Mayors' Committee Awards Banquet for lunch the day of the Expo. This year a group of consumers and service providers was also able to attend the banquet virtually through Skype video all the way from the Bismarck IPAT office. One of the Bismarck participants and IPAT CAC member, Bob Puyear, received an award for his years of excellent service to IPAT, virtually.
